circa 1898, 28in. nitro reproved bold damascus barrels (originally black powder express, London nitro proved in 1978) with file cut rib, open sights with folding leaf sight, bead fore-sight, the central section of the rib engraved 'JOSEPH HARKOM & SON. EDINBURGH', Henry patent rifling, Alexander Henry patent underlever-cocking hammerless action, patent no. 5273 of 4th November 1882, action number 6790, treble-grip with carved serpentine fences, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, curved back-action lockplates, border and fine acanthus scroll engraving, the lockplates with scrolling banners engraved 'J. HARKOM & SON', retaining much renewed colour-hardening, 14 1/2in. boldly-figured pistolgrip stock with cheekpiece, engraved steel pistolgrip-cap (with trap) and engraved steel heel and toe-plates, fore-end with grip-catch release lever, weight 10lb. 4oz.
