A RARE .600 PERCUSSION OFFICER'S or LIVERY PISTOL, serial no. 98,
circa 1840, with octagonal 7 1/4in. unsigned London proved barrel, squared patent breech with engraved bands, scroll engraving and platinum plug, diminutive blade fore-sight, shallow standing notch rear-sight, fully engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'PURDEY', engraved dolphin-headed hammer, walnut full-stock with swept chequered grip capped with an engraved iron butt-cap with central trapdoor, Purdey-style trigger guard numbered on the tip of lower tang, white metal oval barrel key escutcheons (small losses and a crack to fore-end), horn fore-end tip (insect damage) and captive iron stirrup ramrod (missing head-plate)
