A CASED 12-BORE PINFIRE DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1864, with 30in. damascus twist barrels, the top-rib signed 'BURNAND, PILGRIM ST, NEWCASTLE ON TYNE' (rubbed), border and fully scroll engraved long top-tang, border and fully scroll engraved bar action locks signed 'BURNAND' in banners to both bars, en-suite dolphin headed hammers, fully engraved swing under-lever, chequered walnut butt-stock, the underside of stock with gold oval escutcheon blazoned with a Phoenix in flames proper, murally gorged Or., above the initials 'G.F.', later ribbed vulcanite heel-plate, chequered walnut splinter fore-end with cross-key fastener and iron fore-end tip, in its partially relined mahogany case with facsimile trade-label
