28in. nitro barrels with ventilated tapered matt top-rib, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 3/4 and full choke, three-piece fore-end with wooden side fillets, quadruple-grip action with side bolsters, manual safety, hand-detachable lockplates with concealed flush release lever, cocking-indicators, articulated front trigger, fracture to rear trigger, the action and furniture profusely engraved with bold Germanic scrollwork, the lockplates carved with detailed woodland scenes of hound flushing pheasant on the left and a bird of prey attacking duck on the right, the underside signed 'MERKEL FRERES' in a scrolling banner, 14 1/2in. well-figured stock including wooden buttplate, weight 7lb. 8oz.
