A 12-BORE 'BADMINTON' CROSSOVER-STOCKED SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 32251,
28in. nitro barrels, tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND, 98, NEW BOND STREET. LONDON.', and gold-inlaid '1' at the breech end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp cyl and 1/4 choke, toplever gold-inlaid '1', patent gas-checks, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, hand-detachable lockplates, border engraving, some pitting to right lockplate, bright and blued finish overall, 15 1/8in. well-figured crossover stock, including 5/8in. wooden extension, weight 6lb. 8oz., in a canvas case with Holland and Holland labels
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed in 1930 for a Major R.G.S. Cox of County Down as No.1 of a pair of crossover-stocked guns, at a cost of £75.
The gun was given a full strip, clean and overhaul by the makers in August 2007 and was given a new tumbler and toplever spring, the barrels were polished, reblacked and had the ribs re-fixed.
