A .45-75 (WIN) LEVER-ACTION SPORTING-RIFLE, MODEL '1876', serial no. 1474,
for 1877, with octagonal 28in. barrel (refinished), the top originally marked 'WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS NEW HAVEN CT.' over 'KINGS IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29 1866 OCTOBER 16 1860' but now cut through with a blanked off dove-tail, dove-tailed beaded-blade fore-sight, replacement rear-sight from another (originally fitted with an 'Africa' style multi-leaf and ladder rear-sight), no calibre designation at breech or on lifter, refinished receiver with chequered oval thumb-piece to the sliding dust-cover, replacement loading gate, exposed hammer, model designation to top-tang, walnut straight hand butt-stock, crescent heel-plate with central sliding trapdoor, iron finger-lever, single set trigger, brass lifter, walnut for-end and full-length under-barrel magazine tube, factory fitted with swivels, overall length 49 1/4in., weight approximately 9 3/4lbs.
