A SCARCE 12-BORE (2IN.) 'CENTENARY' DOMINION BACK-ACTION SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 34253,
for 1939, 28in. lined nitro reproved chopperlump barrels (in 2008), the rib engraved 'FOR 2 INCH CARTRIDGE ONLY" and in script 'Centenary', the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98. NEW BOND STREET. LONDON.', 2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 choke in both, slender fences, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, triggers set for the left hand, fine engraving of acanthus scrollwork and floral bouquets, the underside with 'DOMINION EJECTOR', retaining very slight traces of colour-hardening and some renewed finish, 15in. figured stock, cast on for the left shoulder, including 1 3/8in. wooden extension, weight 5lb. 14oz., in a lightweight leather Brady case with Holland & Holland gold-tooled leather label
Provenance: The Makers have kindly informed us that this gun was completed for a 'Demetriadi', in 1939
Other Notes: In the early 1930's, Holland & Holland released their 2in. chambered gun, available in all grades, and called it the 'Twelve-Two'. In 1935, as part of marking their Centenary, the Twelve-Two was renamed the 'Centenary'
