AN EARLY 40-BORE FLINTLOCK SPORTING MUSKET SIGNED FERDINAND MORANEK, KRUMAU, CIRCA 1740, no visible serial number,
numbered as '2' of a pair, with slightly swamped smoothbore 30in. barrel, gold oval poincon inlet at breech featuring a star over 'F.M.' (rubbed), spider fore-sight, border engraved top-tang with the pairing number, plain slightly curved and radiused lock signed 'FER. MORANEK IN KRUMAU', bridleless frizzen, swan necked cock, walnut full-stock with raised carved floral decoration behind the top-tang and forwards and aft of the raised cheek-piece, moulded borders and borderlined along the ramrod channel and underside of butt, inlet matching walnut trigger guard bow with raised lower tang and brass central reinforcing strip extending into the rococo finial, complex heel and toe-plates and sideplate in brass, faceted ramrod thimbles and horn-tipped ramrod, stirrup and button iron swivels (some age related hairline cracks to stock)
