A CASED PAIR OF 40-BORE PERCUSSION RIFLED TARGET PISTOLS BY LE PAGE, PARIS, no visible serial numbers,
circa 1845, with 11 1/4in. re-blued octagonal micro-rifled barrels with slightly concave flats, the breech ends marked 'ACIER FONDU', dove-tailed fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights, the breech-blocks numbered for a pair, plain numbered top-tangs, plain locks engraved 'LE PAGE A PARIS' in crescent-shaped white-metal banners below the hammers, moulded hammers with faceted noses, walnut half-stocks with fluted grips, the pommels with faceted, domed iron grip-caps, plain trigger with spurred guards, deep scroll carving to the fore-end tips and no provision for ramrods, in their fitted walnut case lined in the continental style in purple velvet and including a brass loading rod, wood mallet and cleaning rod, provision for a mould and nipple-pot (absent) and with sundry other accessories
