A RARE, FULLY ENGRAVED GILT-WASHED 54-BORE PERCUSSION ADAMS PATENT REVOLVER, serial no. B21717 / 37518,
circa 1857, with 5 3/4in. octagonal barrel, each flat fully engraved with a borderline around feathered scrolls, dove-tailed fore-sight, shallow standing notch rear-sight to rear of the floral and border engraved top-strap signed 'ROBERT ADAMS, No.76 KING WILLIAM STREET. LONDON', borderline and full floral scroll engraved solid frame featuring the Beaumont and Adams numbers within banners, sliding safe mounted behind the cylinder to the right, en-suite fully engraved plain cylinder with the serial number '37518' featured in a banner, double action mechanism with polished spurred hammer, chequered semi saw-handled walnut grip with swollen pommel and gold shield-shaped vacant escutcheon to back, fully engraved domed grip-cap with central trap and guarded blued trigger, appearing to have seen little use but gilt wash thinned and lost in places
