A 54-BORE J&G GIBBS, BRISTOL PERCUSSION SIDE-HAMMER POCKET-PISTOL, no visible serial number circa 1825, with octagonal frozen turn-off barrel signed on the top-flat, side nipple boss with shallow fences, engraved squared boxlock action with dolphin hammer and border and scroll engraving, finely chequered walnut bag-shaped butt, the trigger-guard grooved for a bayonet release and underside of barrel dove-tailed for mount but bayonet absent
