A 9-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-BARRELLED BUSTARD GUN, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
circa 1770, with extraordinarily long 71 1/4in. round iron slightly swamped barrel, London proofs, hooked breech with moulded sighting chanel to the top-tang, borderline engraved lock re-used from a military musket and marked with a crown and 'G.R.' device below the pan, walnut half-stock (cut back from full), the right side of butt initialled with a carved 'W.H.', brass furniture including double rolled-edge trigger guard with acorn finial, un-cupped side-nails, two barrel iron cross-keys, horn fore-end tip and iron ramrod pipes applied directly to the barrel with working replacement wood ramrod (tip absent)
