* A RARE .44 (RIMFIRE) GERMAN PERIOD COPY OF A HENRY REPEATING RIFLE, UNSIGNED, serial no. 65,
circa 1870, with round reblued 27 3/4in. barrel with integral magazine tube below, applied blade fore-sight, folding ladder rear-sight, period German proofs, brass slab-sided Henry-style receiver with exposed hammer and iron finger-lever, walnut butt-stock (split at head), brass crescent heel-plate, no provision for fore-end, brass magazine slider, iron cartridge port cover to magazine tube and brass-tipped iron clearing rod mounted to left side of barrel
Provenance: Unlicenced European copies of American designs were commonly produced before the turn of the 20th century, with the Belgians being the most prolific. German makers though, were well known for both licenced copies of products by firms such as Smith & Wesson, as well as unlicenced copies of Winchester type rifles
