A GOOD .577 (3IN. BLACK POWDER) EXPRESS DOUBLE-BARRELLED HAMMER SPORTING RIFLE, serial no. 3095,
circa 1900, with blued steel 28in. barrels, roll engraved top-rib marked 'LINCOLN JEFFERIES' within a rectangular panel, detachable fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, engraved band to breech-end, colour hardened border engraved action with swing under-lever (colour possibly renewed in antiquity), border engraved back-action locks with rebounding hammers and signed along the top-edge 'LINCOLN JEFFERIES' above a scene of a standing elephant on the left and a prowling lion on the right, chequered walnut pistol-grip butt-stock, chequered walnut splinter fore-end with Anson catch, the trigger guard tang marked 'GUN & RIFLE MANUFACTURER, 121 STEELHOUSE ST. (sic) BIRMINGHAM' and eyelets for sling
