GEORGE GIBBS, BRISTOL
A RARE AND UNUSUAL HUNTING KNIFE OF PESHKABZ FORM,
circa 1890, with 10in. blade of shallow recurving form, false edged for the last 5in., the left face of blade signed 'GEORGE GIBBS' over 'BRISTOL & LONDON', guardless hilt of peshkabz style with shaped bolster to the fore decorated with gold koftgari-work continuing along and around the straps and fitted with fully chequered lignum or ebony scales (mild staining to blade but generally very good) and complete with its moulded leather scabbard with carved and moulded white-metal mounts and a further side-mount from a previous key-hole frog retainer, now incomplete
