Durst improved patent 8760 of May 9th 1892, the bolt and right side of the receiver marked 'DURST PATENT', internal rotary magazine with magazine cut-off switch, blued and knurled cocking-piece with rotational safety, three-quarter stock with single barrel-band, bayonet lug, clearing rod, sling swivels, 13 1/2in. pull including steel buttplate, weight 8lb. 15oz.

Provenance: Captain Murray H. Durst was an inventor based in Wheatland, California.

At first collaborating with Lewis Broadwell in the early stages of development it appears Durst worked alone afterwards.

One version of his rifle was submitted to the U.S. Army trials in 1891, it had a 10 round magazine was chambered in .30 calibre. The rifle appears to have been rejected. A patent for the rifle was granted in 1893. in 1894 a second version of the rifle was trialled by the U.S. Navy, this time in an experimental 6mm calibre.

A number of these rifles were manufactured by Grenfell & Accles in the United Kingdom around 1893

This gun was acquired from the Grenfell & Accles collection
