A 12-BORE 1863 PATENT (SECOND PATTERN) PUSH-FORWARD THUMBHOLE UNDERLEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 8207,
for 1869, 29 1/2in. nitro reproved damascus barrels, rib engraving worn, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, action incorporating J. Purdey 1863 second pattern thumbhole underlever and Purdey 1863 double bite, patent no. 1104 of 2nd May 1863, carved percussion fences, rebounding isolated locks with dolphin hammers, grip safety, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining much renewed colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/2in. figured stock with steel heel and toe plates, weight 6lb. 9oz.
