27in. shortened (by the makers) nitro reproved chopperlump barrels, rib engraved (refreshed) 'J. PURDEY & SONS, AUDLEY HOUSE, SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, self-opening action with removable striker discs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, arrow cocking-indicators, non-selective single trigger, best bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining slight traces of original colour-hardening, 14 7/8in. figured replacement stock, gold escutcheon engraved 'T.S' and with an outer gold ring engraved 'A GIFT FROM P.J. BLOOMER - 94', weight 6lb. 14oz.

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed with 29in. barrels in 1897 for a Mr. Mosley. They subsequently shortened the barrels to 27in. in April 1926.
