25in. nitro reproved replacement barrel engraved 'BOSS & CO. 41 ALBERMARLE STREET. PICCADILLY. LONDON. W.', the knox form engraved 'SIGHTED FOR RIGBYS SPECIAL HIGH VELOCITY .275 BORE CARTRIDGE. POINTED BULLET 140GRS.', block-mounted open sights with two folding leaf sights, matted finish with white metal inlaid sight lines and marked for 100, 300 and 400 yards, block-mounted bead fore-sight with flip-up moonsight, detachable bolstered fore-end with sculpted tip and Deeley & Edge patent release catch, receiver (with thumb cutout) with acanthus scroll and ropework engraving, barrel release screw and mounted with a Fraser patent telescopic sight with hinged lens covers, the tube engraved 'DANL. Provenance: Archibald Williamson (September 1860 - October 1931) was a Liberal Member of Parliament for Elginshire and Nairnshire between 1906 and 1918 and then for Moray and Nairn until 1922. He was created a Baronet in 1909 and was raised to the peerage as Baron Forres of Glenogil in June 1922.

During his political career he chaired numerous Home Office, Board of Trade and Parliamentary committees and was actively involved in the Mesopotamia Commission of Enquiry in 1916 (set up to investigate the military disasters experienced in Mesopotamia and the Dardanelles in 1916). After the War he held the position of Financial Secretary to the War Office.
