Original 26 1/2in. nitro chopperlump barrels, rib finely engraved at the breech end with acanthus scrolls and gold-inlaid '2', the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98. NEW BOND STREET, LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp cyl. and 1/4 choke;
New 30in. nitro chopperlump barrels (by the makers in 2011), the rib with acanthus scroll detailing at the breech end, the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. BRUTON STREET. LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and 3/4 choke;
toplever gold-inlaid '2', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, hand-detachable lockplates, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, rolled-edge triggerguard, best bold Royal scroll engraving, the underside with an elaborate cartouche engraved 'ROYAL SELF-OPENER PATENT 1922', bright finish overall, 15 1/4in. well-figured replacement stock and matching fore-end wood, weight 6lb. 9oz. (original barrels) and 6lb. 14oz. (extra barrels), in a Holland & Holland green universal case (provision for one set of barrels only) and with a pair of brass and nylon Holland & Holland snap caps

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed to pair with Gun No. 31767, with 26 1/2in. barrels, in April 1929 for Major Sir Edward Stracey Bt.

Sir Edward Stracey of Rackheath, Norfolk served as High Sheriff of Norfolk in 1928. He was also father to the successful sculptor Rosalind Stracey.

The makers have also kindly confirmed that they rebarrelled the gun and refurbished it in 2012.
