circa 1860, with unusual damascus polygonal 28in. side-by-side barrels, raised flat top-rib matted for the last 5in. and signed 'SAML. & C. SMITH PRINCES STREET LEICESTER SQUARE, LONDON', dove-tailed bead fore-sight, rear-sight with shallow standing notch and three flush-folding leaves, border and scroll engraving at breech, narrow faceted standing breech with shallow carved percussion fences, borderline and scroll engraved elongated top-tang and shallow sighting groove, borderline and scroll engraved back-action locks with sliding safes behind the dolphin headed engraved hammers and signed 'SAML. & C. SMITH PRINCES ST. LONDON', figured walnut butt-stock chequered at the wrist, engraved iron furniture including finely chequered pistol-grip spur to the lower tang, single bite swing-lever opening, fully chequered walnut splinter fore-end with cross-key fixing and fitted with eyelets for sling, complete with a period leather storage case possibly associated and lined in burgundy baize, replacement trade label to inside of lid
