circa 1874, 29in. black powder only bold damascus barrels (loose on action), sunken rib engraved 'EDWARD PATON & SON. 108 MOUNT ST. GROSVENOR SQ. LONDON. & 44 GEORGE ST. PERTH', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, some pitting and dents, action incorporating J. Woodward and J. Emme improved patent barrel locking mechanism, patent no. 267 of January 27th 1872, bifurcated triggerguard with Purdey style thumblever, carved percussion fences, rebounding island back-action locks with high-spurred dolphin hammers, fully engraved with acanthus scrollwork, the underside with floral bouquets, retaining slight traces of original colour-hardening, 13 5/8in. boldly-figured stock including horn buttplate (missing one retaining screw), fore-end with Deeley & Edge 1873 patent release lever, weight 5lb. 8oz.
