for 1899, 26in. nitro barrel engraved 'GEORGE GIBBS. & 35. SAVILLE ROW. LONDON. W.', ramp-mounted bead fore-sight, open rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, marked '100' and '200' yards and with white-metal inlaid sight lines, receiver fitted with a Carl Zeiss Zielviermi telescopic sight, serial no. 5503 and engraved 'FITTED BY GEORGE GIBBS. BRISTOL & LONDON.', in quickly-detachable mounts, the left side of the receiver engraved 'STEYR 1899', bolt with manual flag safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, top-tang with a flip-up peep-sight, blued finish, pistolgrip halfstock (some insert repairs under peep sight), with horn pistolgrip-cap and fore-end finial, 14 3/4in. pull including 3/4in. wooden extension and engraved steel buttplate with central trapdoor, weight 8lb. 6oz.
