circa 1825, with laminated 32in. barrels, the breech-block signed on a gold rectangular poincon 'HOLMES LIVERPOOL', four further gold bands (one partially replaced), platinum lined touch-hole, engraved top-tang with broad shallow sighting groove, bead fore-sight, border and scroll engraved locks signed 'HOLMES' in script below the raked fast-fire rainproof gold lined pans, roller frizzens with engraved front faces and engraved top-jaws to the angled swan-necked cocks, chequered walnut half-stock (hairline cracked on left side below cock and right side behind lock), white-metal reinforcing plates forward and aft of both locks, the front examples engraved, iron furniture including scrolled lower tang (all cleaned of engraved detail) and brass mounted ramrod
