MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID-PRESSED STEEL' and gold inlaid with a crest of a lion passant holding a trefoil aloft, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both;
30in. nitro reproved chopperlump barrels, rib engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID-PRESSED STEEL' (dented) and gold inlaid with a crest of a lion passant holding a trefoil aloft, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 3/4 choke in both;
self-opening sideclipped treble-grip action with hidden third bite, toplever engraved with a vignette of a pheasant perching on a branch, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, 'arrow' cocking-indicators, articulated front trigger, left mainspring broken, best fine border and acanthus scroll engraving surrounding vignettes of hound flushing game, the underside with finely engraved vignettes of rabbits, and a triptych of heron, partridge and crane, the triggerguard with a further hound flushing game, retaining some original colour-hardening and renewed finish, 14 1/2in. figured stock including 7/8in. leather-covered recoil pad, weight 7lb. (game barrels) 6lb. 15oz. (pigeon barrels), in its makers brass-cornered oak and leather guncase with provision for both sets of barrels
