circa 1833, the first a 16-bore double with laminated 29in. barrels, the top-rib signed 'A. REED, 14 CITY ROAD, LONDON', white metal fore-sight bead, scroll engraving and twin gold lines to rib-end, carved and moulded breech-blocks with engraved platinum vented plugs, border and scroll engraved long top-tang, white metal under-breech plates, border, scroll and game-scene engraved back-action locks signed 'A. REED, LONDON' (traces of colour), chequered walnut half-stock with engraved iron furniture (a previous grip-safe removed and apertures filled), white metal ramrod throat, wrist escutcheon and barrel key escutcheons and brass tipped mahogany ramrod, the second a 14-bore single with octagonal to sixteen-sided to round 30in. ribbon damascus barrel, same signature to top, gold and platinum lines to the scroll engraved breech-end, fully engraved long top-tang, border and scroll engraved back-action lock, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, engraved iron furniture, white metal fore-end tip, wrist and key escutcheons and mahogany ramrod, both shotguns with traces of colour and finish and in a period fitted brass cornered walnut case lined and compartmented in jade velvet (maker's label absent, some compartments loose) and together with a small number of accessories including a period leather covered powder-flask, two shot measures, a cap-tin, later oil bottle and sundries
