circa 1850, with twist iron two-stage 30in. barrel, moulded band at the intersection, the top-flat signed 'JOSEPH LANG HAYMARKET LONDON', dove-tailed fore-sight bead, dove-tailed rear-sight with four folding leaves, breech-block with engraved bands and single platinum band, platinum vent, border, scroll and gamescene engraved back-action lock signed 'I. LANG' (traces of colour) and featuring a stag at rest in a woodland setting, highly figured walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, border, scroll and gamescene engraved heel-plate spur featuring a lion at rest beneath a tree (much blued finish remaining), chequered spurred trigger-guard tang, the bow engraved with borders and a prowling tiger, border engraved iron escutcheons to the wrist and barrel key and retaining its original mushroom headed mahogany ramrod
