A CASED 14-BORE FLINTLOCK DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, serial no. 4799,
for 1807, with twist iron 31in. barrels, the top rib of sunken form, bead fore-sight, needles engraved to the rib-end at breech, the top of breech-block inlet with gold poincons signed 'MANTON LONDON' in raised letters along with a crown, platinum touch-holes, border and trophy engraved top-tang featuring further needles within the sighting groove, border engraved locks signed 'MANTON' with small game-scenes at the tail, border engraved hammers, waterproof pans and roller bearings to the frizzen springs, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist (worn smooth), iron heel-plate with engraved top-spur, trigger guard bow engraved with a hunting dog, white metal oval barrel key escutcheons and brass mounted mahogany ramrod;, TOGETHER WITH its makers mahogany storage case, compartmented and lined in green baize and containing a number of period accessories including a flask and shot-bandolier, the locks stored dismounted, the interior of lid with small parchment trade-label and hook closure
