for between 1840-44, with twist iron 30in. barrels, the top rib signed in script 'JOHN MANTON & SON, DOVER STREET, LONDON', bead fore-sight, shell engraving to the rib-end at breech, platinum vents, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang featuring a rabbit, border, scroll and gamescene engraved bar-action locks signed 'JNO MANTON & SON PATENT', walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, rectangular escutcheon to top of wrist engraved with an armorial of a swan above a wreath along with the initials 'D.W.C.', iron heel-plate with engraved top-spur, trigger guard tang with grip safety, the bow engraved with a hunting dog, white metal oval barrel key escutcheons and brass mounted mahogany ramrod
