original 30in. nitro reproved barrels, the rib engraved 'WESTLEY RICHARDS. 178. NEW BOND ST. LONDON. GUNMAKERS BY APPOINTMENT TO HIS MAJESTY GEORGE V. REX ET IMP.', silver fore-sight, scroll engraved and gold-inlaid '2' at the breech-end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 choke in both;
extra 28in. nitro barrels (by the makers in 1970), the rib engraved 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. LONDON.', scroll engraved and inlaid '2' at the breech-end, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and 3/4 choke, scroll-back treble-grip action incorporating J. Deeley and L.B. Taylor patent hand-detachable locks, patent no. 17731 of 28th July 1897 with improved 'lighter pull-off' modification, patent no. 10567 of 7th May 1907, use number 2181, A.E. Lard patent single selective trigger, patent no. 3952 of February 2nd 1899, use number 1609, the toplever engraved 'Westley Richards Patent One Trigger', hinged floorplate, barrel selector switch with gold-inlaid 'R' and 'L' details, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, fine acanthus scroll engraving surrounding the maker's name within a cartouche, the triggerguard engraved with a pointer, retaining some original colour-hardening and finish, 14 3/8in. boldly-figured stock including 1in. leather covered recoil pad, fore-end with Deeley & Edge patent release catch and horn finial, weight 6lb. (original barrels) and 6lb. 3oz. (extra barrels), in its canvas and leather case with provision for both sets of barrels and Westley Richards Orange Road address trade label

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed as No.2 of a pair in May 1913 for a Mr R.A. Datton. They inform us that they subsequently resold the gun (pair) to a Mr R.W. Hill in 1928.

They confirm that the new barrels were completed by them for a Mr Glaser in August 1970.

Other Notes: The gun is supplied with a Westley Richards & Co. certificate of authenticity / dating certificate together with photocopies of the original ledger entries for the gun and the new barrels
