circa 1810, with twist iron 8 1/4in. octagonal barrels, the top-flats signed 'CHAMPION, CHICHESTER', bead fore-sights, engraved band, platinum lined touch-holes and platinum band at breeches, engraved top-tangs with standing notch rear-sights, border and acanthus scroll engraved flat locks with rounded tails signed forwards of the hammers 'CHAMPION, CHICHESTER', sliding safes behind the hammers, rainproof pans, roller frizzens, walnut half-stocks with finely chequered bag-shaped butts, plain triggers, spurred guards and oval escutcheoned barrel-keys, brass mounted wood ramrods, both pistols retaining strong amounts of original colour and finish and in their maker's walnut case lined and compartmented in coarse green baize, parchment makers trade label inside lid, the case tray containing a loading rod, three-way flask and scissors ball mould
