circa 1780 with later 36 1/2in. barrels, the top-rib engraved 'GRIFFIN & TOW BOND STREET LONDON', boat-shaped fore-sight, blued breech-blocks with lined touch-holes, border engraved top-tang with raised shallow sighting-groove, borderline engraved bevel edged locks signed 'GRIFFIN & TOW', pointed tails, broad sliding safes behind the cocks, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture with engraved detail (rubbed) and later brass mounted ramrod with horn tip
