the presentation dated for 1860, with 31in. browned damascus barrel, the top signed 'ALEX MARTIN, GLASGOW' within a field of scroll engraving, further scroll engraved band at muzzle, block and blade fore-sight, ladder rear-sight (slide stop absent), the rear of breech with inscription 'TERRY'S PATENT 30 BORE' and further scroll engraving, side mounted scroll engraved lift and twist bolt with blued mainspring, borderline and scroll engraved silver-plated lock signed 'ALEX MARTIN, GLASGOW', chequered walnut half-stock, silver-plated scroll engraved iron furniture including heel-plate with central trapdoor, the underside of butt with large silver oval plaque inscribed 'PRESENTED TO LIEUT. JAMES DRUMMOND STEWART, 72ND HIGHLANDERS BY THE 3RD ARGYLL RIFLE VOLUNTEERS, CAMBELTOWN 1860', single barrel key, moulded horn fore-end tip and fitted with eyelets for sling.
