for 1900, 28in. nitro reproved barrels (in 1995), tubes engraved 'SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL', ribs engraved 'PATENT EJECTOR', 'STEPHEN GRANT & SONS. 67A ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON.' and '1' and '2', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/2 and 3/4 choke, wall thicknesses all below recommended minimum, carved percussion fences, rebounding locks, border and acanthus scroll engraving, retaining traces of colour-hardening and some renewed finish, 15in. figured replacement stocks including 7/8in. leather-covered recoil pads, weight 6lb. 15oz. (No.1) 7lb. 1oz. (No.2), in a brass-cornered oak and leather double guncase

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this pair was completed in 1900 for Capt. the Hon. A.D. Murray

Research would indicate this to be the Hon. Alexander David Murray (1871 - 1924), 5th son of William David Murray, Viscount Stormont
