A 12-BORE 1887 PATENT ROUND-ACTION TRIGGERPLATE-ACTION EJECTOR, serial no. 4278,
for 1889, 29in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (in 2024), the rib re-engraved 'JOHN DICKSON & SON. 63, PRINCES STREET. EDINBURGH', and gold-inlaid '1' at the breech-end, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, right wall at 19, Dickson patent round action incorporating patents 9399 and 10621 of 1887, use number 264, slim fences, toplever gold-inlaid '1', automatic safety with gold 'SAFE' detail, top panel with gold cocking-indicators, fine acanthus scroll engraving, retaining very slight traces of colour-hardening, 14 1/4in. highly-figured stock, weight 6lb.
Provenance: The makers records list the gun as having 29in. barrels, sold on 1st August 1889
