early second model for 1879, with blued octagonal 24 1/4in. Winchester signed barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight with nickel blade, buckhorn rear-sight with chequered edges to the standing notch, London proofs, blued slab-sided receiver with applied guide-rail for the colour-hardened sliding breech cover, the latter with chequered oval panel, the left side of receiver inscribed 'LONDON ARMOURY' over 'JAS. KERR & CO, 54 KING WM. ST. E.C.', top tang marked 'MODEL 1873', chequered walnut straight hand butt-stock, crescent heel-plate with central trap retaining the original multi-piece cleaning rod, colour-hardened finger-lever, trigger and hammer, no cartridge designation to the lifter, fully chequered walnut fore-end with blued nose-cap and full length under-barrel magazine with flush-fitting end-plug, much original finish and colour remaining
