circa 1770, with round 72in. barrel, slightly swamped muzzle, the breech section engraved with a steeple and teardrop, applied boat-shaped fore-sight, solid extended top-tang with cut sighting-groove, lock of curved banana form signed 'ED. NORTH' and with borderline engraving, shallow pan and swan-necked cock, walnut full-stock (apparently in one piece) with handrail butt and flat-topped comb (some chips and inlets), the underside of stock with sliding wood trap for patches, brass furniture except plain iron sideplate, original brass-faced wood ramrod
