for 1919, 28in. Whitworth-steel nitro chopperlump barrels, the ribs engraved 'JAMES WOODWARD & SONS. 64. ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON. S.W. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL' and gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, carved arcaded fences, removable striker discs, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators (No.1 right inlay missing), best fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, the lockplates with the makers name engraved in elaborate cartouches, retaining some original colour-hardening and possibly renewed blued finish, 14 1/4in. highly-figured stocks including buttplates, weight 5lb. 11oz., in their brass-cornered oak and leather case
