26in. nitro chopperlump barrels, ribs engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 3/4 choke, removable striker discs, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, cocking-indicators, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving with floral bouquets, the undersides with 'J. PURDEY & SONS LONDON ENGLAND' in oval cartouches, retaining much original colour-hardening and finish, 14 1/2in. figured stocks including 7/8in. rubber recoil pads, small chip to right edge of fore-end No.2 gun, weight 6lb. 6oz., in a leather motor case with applied gold-tooled Purdey trade label and a secondary label gold-tooled 'Presented to H.W.J. Parker from Sir Donald Campbell'
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this pair was completed in March 1954 for Dr. F. Palmira, as a pair of 12-bore (2 1/2in.) hammerless ejector guns with 26in. barrels.
