circa 1845, with smoothbore damascus 30in. browned barrels, the flat top-rib signed 'THOMAS JACKSON. 29 EDWARDS STREET. PORTMAN SQUARE. LONDON.', dove-tailed bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, all with platinum centre lines, scroll engraved rib-end at breech, platinum vents, fully borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, border and scroll engraved colour-hardened bar-action locks signed 'THOMAS JACKSON' and also featuring an engraved recumbent stag in a natural setting on the left bar, a rabbit on the right, scroll engraved dolphin headed hammers with forward mounted bolted safes, chequered walnut figured half-stock with carved and raised cheek-piece, small engraved circular lidded iron patch-box to the right hand side featuring a standing stag and recumbent doe, iron heel-plate also engraved with a stag on the top-spur, chequered raised pistol-grip lower tang, the trigger guard bow engraved with borders and rabbits, finely engraved trigger plate and ramrod finials, plain ramrod thimbles and brass-tipped ebony ramrod, eyelets for sling, the whole retaining much original finish and colour throughout and complete with its makers quality oak storage case with rounded and brass reinforced corners, flush fitting ring handle to lid, hook and lock closure, compartmented and lined in embossed fine kidd leather, parchment trade label inside lid and containing a full suite of original accessories including a spring cramp, wad punch, scissors mould, original leather sling,oil bottle, cap tin, bone nipple pot, ebony patch pot, loading mallet, Sykes powder flask and a numbered leather wallet with a dismountable nipple-key also describing the gun as a 'pea rifle'
