circa 1875, with blued tapering round 22in. black-powder reproved barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight with further lateral adjustment, model year to breech, flip-up and forwards breech-block, plain lock marked 'U.S. SPRINGFIELD' together with an American eagle device, plain side-hammer, plain walnut half-stock with iron furniture including carbine style heel-plate and short saddle-bar and ring, single barrel-band and retaining a fair amount of original finish
