for 1915, 28in. replacement nitro reproved chopperlump barrels (by the makers in 1966), ribs engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND' and gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. improved cylinder in all, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, removable striker discs, cocking-indicators, articulated front triggers, best fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, brushed finishes, 15in. figured replacement stocks, weight 6lb. 9oz. (No.1) 6lb. 11oz. (No.2), in their makers brass-cornered leather double guncase, the case lid embossed with the letter 'V' surmounted by the coronet of a Marquis
Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this pair of guns were completed on 25th March, 1915 and were built for H. van Cutsem. In 1966 the guns were rebarrelled and resold to the Marquis de Villabraquina
