A 12-BORE 1897 PATENT DETACHABLE-LOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 9030, with extra barrels,
for 1907, original 30in. nitro reproved barrels with beaded line and scroll bands at the breech end, rib engraved 'WESTLEY RICHARDS 178 NEW BOND ST. LONDON. GUN MAKERS BY SPECIAL APPOINTMENT TO HIS MAJESTY KING EDWARD VII.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke;
extra 28in. nitro barrels (by the makers in 1965), serial numbered 9030 / 19281, with beaded line and scroll bands at the breech end, rib engraved 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO., LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, scroll-back action with Westley Richards patent toplever, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, detachable floorplate, J. Deeley and L.B. Taylor patent hand-detachable locks, patent No. 17731 of 28th July 1897, use number 1294, fully engraved with bold acanthus scrollwork on a matted background, the makers name inlaid in gold, retaining virtually full renewed colour-hardening and finish, 16 1/8in. well-figured stock (slightly cast on) including 1 3/8in. wooden extension, fore-end with Deeley & Edge patent release catch and horn finial, weight 6lb. 11oz. (original barrels) and 6lb. 9oz. (new barrels), in a canvas and leather case with provision for both sets of barrels and with a Holland & Holland trade label

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed on the 23rd April 1907 for an 'F.J. Scott' and that they subsequently fitted barrels No. 9030 / 19281 on the 2nd December 1965. Copies of the record entries, together with an Authentification Certificate from the makers accompanies the Lot
