A 6-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED WILDFOWLING GUN, serial no. 1322,
circa 1842, with substantial heavy round tapering twist-iron 41 1/2in. barrel, bead fore-sight, the top of barrel signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. 170 NEW BOND ST. LONDON' and carved with a short sighting rib at breech, the block with an engraving of a waterfowl, moulded nipple boss, vented platinum plug and carved short side-ribs, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang with moulded sighting groove, border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS', borderline and scroll engraved dolphin headed hammer, heavy walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, (old repairs to fore-end tip) iron heel-plate, single escutcheoned barrel key and heavy duty brass-tipped ebony under-barrel ramrod in plain thimbles
