circa 1863, with damascus triple-staged 46in. barrel, carved band at the intersection, bead fore-sight, the top-flat at breech signed 'G. WEST, GROVE ST RETFORD', borderline engraved squared breech (traces of colour), borderline engraved top-tang, borderline engraved bar-action lock signed 'G. WEST', borderline engraved hammer (spur 'bobbed'), chequered walnut half-stock with iron furniture (complex silver escutcheon and expert repair at wrist), horn fore-end tip and no provision for ramrod
