Product Details

AN EXTREMELY RARE .20 EDDIE BARBER AIRGUNAID TR2 BREAK-BARREL TARGET AIR-RIFLE, no visible serial number,
circa 1978, with blued 17 1/4in. barrel, ramp and tunnel fore-sight with interchangeable elements, reblued air-chamber grooved for a telescopic sight, the centre marked 'AIRGUNAID TR2' and 'MADE IN GT BRITAIN', beech half-stock with chequered pistol-grip, raised comb, ribbed heel and squared fore-end, fitted with a plastic trigger and trigger-guard bow and a later diopter aperture sight, the rifle refinished

Provenance: The TR2 was the lesser known sibling to Eddie Barber's better known air-rifle, the SP5. Like the SP5, it was built on a tuned Diana chassis, this time a G79 action with a .20 calibre Lothar-Walther barrel and then mounting the action into a lightly modified production Diana stock. It was an unusual choice considering the International Shooting Union and the Olympic Committee had deemed .177 the international target calibre, but Eddie believed that sales would be great in the USA where .20 was still well accepted. Unfortunately Eddie went out of business after a devastating fire reduced the premises to ashes in the 1980's. It is believed that less than 10 TR2S were produced in total
