circa 1910, 31 1/2in. 're-enforced proof' Whitworth-steel nitro chopperlump barrels with raised stippled matt rib, tubes engraved 'SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S PRESSED STEEL STEEL.' and 'PIRLET. ARMURIER BREVETE. 26 Fg. St. HONORE. PARIS.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and extra full choke, sideclipped action, the fences carved with oak leaf and acorn motifs, manual safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, Purdey-style cocking-indicators, articulated front trigger, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving surrounding floral bouquets, retaining much original colour-hardening and finish, 14in. figured pistolgrip stock with sling swivels, missing plug to butt, weight 8lb. 1oz.
