A RARE 80-BORE & 40-BORE STOCK RESERVOIR COMBINATION AIR-RIFLE/SHOTGUN, serial no. 6046,
circa 1865, with octagonal to round 30in. micro-grooved rifle barrel signed on the top 'COGSWELL & HARRISON 223 & 224 STRAND LONDON', block and bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two further folding leaves, the additional shotgun barrel of similar form with identical signature, bead fore-sight and no provision for rear-sight, the underside with applied rib (lifting) and later ramrod, tap-action breech, borderline and scroll engraved slab-sided action, exposed cocking piece in the form of a dummy hammer, side safe, detachable shagreen-covered butt forming the air-reservoir (small losses to covering), guarded trigger, no provision for fore-end and with traces of finish, rifle barrel only bearing the serial number
