dated for 1878, with 30 1/2in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, swing open breech-block marked 'PATENT' (hinge pin replaced) and with sprung thumb-catch, signed and dated bar-action lock stamped with a crown to the tail, walnut three-quarter stock, brass furniture except two iron barrel-bands, replacement jag-ended clearing rod and fitted with an early 'Mills & Orndorff' webbing sling
