A CASED 14-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, serial no. 2269,
circa 1845, with browned damascus 32in. barrels signed on the broad concave top-rib 'EDWARD PATON, 44 GEORGE ST. PERTH. MAKER TO H.R.H THE PRINCE CONSORT' and numbered '2' for a pair, bead fore-sight, scroll engraved rib-end to the colour hardened breech, platinum band and plugs, scroll engraved top-tang with renewed colour, border and scroll engraved bar-action re-coloured locks signed 'E. PATON, PERTH', re-coloured fully scroll engraved hammers, chequered highly figured walnut half-stock, blued iron furniture (engraved detail lightly rubbed) and horn tip to fore-end with no provision for ramrod, together with its probable original walnut storage case lined and compartmented in plum velvet and containing a period and a later leather shot-flask, a period powder flask by Hawksley together with a vintage three-piece cleaning rod, a wad punch and a quantity of lubricated wads
